Good news, South Australians: from this Saturday, it’s party time. Standing up for a drink is back on at licensed venues as long as you’re outdoors, while dancing is also allowed at private functions with up to 150 guests. Time to take those wedding plans off ice.

Rather than looking enviously to the north-west, Melburnians gripped by lockdown fatigue may prefer to turn their gaze to Britain instead. Even with the second wave at its peak, there were no restrictions in Victoria on how many people could sing indoors. Little wonder Prime Minister Boris Johnson is facing rebellion from the lockdown sceptics in his own party.
