Energy explorer and coal seam gas player Blue Energy announced on Tuesday that it had commissioned a study to assess a possible gas pipeline route from the company's Galilee Basin acreage. The initial survey is designed to identify optimal pipeline routes and expedite the gas commercialisation process. Blue Energy chairman Peter Cockcroft said it was imperative that the development of the coal seam gas potential of the Galilee Basin was not hindered by a delay in building gas transmission infrastructure. The company recently announced it intended to undertake a 21 corehole drilling program across the Galilee Basin to gather basic geological data to assist in providing locations for pilot wells.
