Blocking Adani mine would damage trade with India, says business council

The Australia India Business Council says the vilification of Indian energy giant Adani's controversial $2 billion Carmichael thermal coal mine has to end and warned of significant damage to bilateral trade if the project is blocked by state or federal governments.

With the mine set to become a key issue at the federal election in May, AIBC chairman and businessman Jim Varghese called on all Australians to give Adani a "fair go", saying a political truce had to be found to allow the project to proceed if it received the relevant approvals.
