$66m deal will be boon for producers
Western Australia's booming export industries were given a boost yesterday with the State Government's signing of a $66 million contract for the building of 24 new freight locomotives.
The high-tech locomotives, to be built for Westrail by Clyde Engineering, a division of Clyde Industries Ltd, will deliver $3 billion worth of fuel savings and significantly improve the international competitiveness of the State's rapidly expanding mining and agricultural industries.
