ASIC warned unions, ACTU on super funds
The corporate watchdog formally warned two unions and the ACTU that communications sent to members about three industry or not-for-profit superannuation funds before they collapsed may have breached financial advice and consumer protection laws.
The incident, revealed in responses to questions on notice at a Senate inquiry, highlight the risk cosy relationships between some unions and their related super funds may pose to members’ retirement savings.
