Regardless of which party is in power in Canberra, as a 24-year-old wanting to advance my life and sustainably set up foundations for my future, I watch both major parties’ policies and announcements with disappointment. Both show a lack of purpose, direction and strategy to improve the country, particularly on tax reform.
Much has been written on the lack of genuine tax reform by successive governments since the introduction of the GST by John Howard and Peter Costello. It saddens me that governments have lacked the courage of their convictions to do what is desperately needed for the Australian economy and its people: to genuinely reform and advance our tax system for the betterment of Australia’s future.
