Why those who can afford it must pay more for aged care
Without a shift to user pays, there is no other way to fund a quality aged care system for all.
Jason KaraHealth care leaderThe proposal to make wealthy people pay more from their own pockets to cover the cost of their aged care has created the potential for the mother of all scare campaigns. If that temptation is not resisted, quality aged care in this country is doomed.
That might sound dramatic, but at this point it is simply a statement of fact. Without a shift to user pays, there is no other way to fund a quality aged care system.
