The need for child and booster vaccinations could delay reopening
The need to vaccinate children and to administer booster shots will have to be factored into the national cabinet’s plan, pushing the reopening timetable out till March, according to vaccine and epidemiological experts.
The push to include children in the vaccine targets came after the national cabinet agreed on Friday to reopening thresholds based on 70 and 80 per cent of the over-16 population. Based on seven-day average vaccination rates 80 per cent of the adult population will be reached by early January, if current rates are maintained.
