Daniel Andrews likens the virus outbreak in Victoria to a public health bushfire. The imagery is deliberately evocative of the summer crisis – and of strong voter support for his own effective leadership of the government’s response.
But despite a similar daily dose of stern rhetoric and the no-nonsense manner perfected by the Victorian Premier, Andrews is clearly not receiving the same plaudits from the public now.
