Listed minerals explorer Mantle Mining Corp has walked away from an application to explore for brown coal in the Deans Marsh coalfields, about 50 kilometres west of Geelong, Victoria.

Mantle applied for the exploration licence on June 22, sparking protest among local residents and state and federal Greens politicians.
