Keeping Eraring open is about engineering not morality
The imminent decision around when and how to close Australia’s biggest coal-fired power station is a watershed moment between an ideological approach to climate change and the laws of physics.

More significantly, the phase out of Eraring is an operational line in the sand. Previous coal power station closures have eroded reserve capacity, but the grid has been able to operate in much the same way.
