‘Free up’ state gas supply, says new Labor minister

Resources Minister Madeleine King says the country’s eastern states have to “free up” gas reserves for exploration and production to ensure households and manufacturers can access reliable energy for years to come.

The push comes as former prime minister Malcolm Turnbull on Monday called on the Albanese government to impose temporary export and price controls on liquefied natural gas to ease the impact from the global energy crunch.
