The pandemic had already been rough for Angelo Santangelo and his wedding reception venue, which sits north-west of Sydney on the banks of the Hawkesbury River.

But he had a feeling it was about to get rougher as he watched heavy rain drench a wedding just over a week ago. He warned the guests it would be “touch and go”.
