NSW Premier Chris Minns says keeping the Eraring coal power station running for longer than its planned closure date in 2027 will be a good thing for the state, and that his government is already in talks with the owner, Origin Energy, about it.
The comments come after the energy market operator warned of potential blackouts without a further extension of Eraring, a 2880-megawatt plant that supplies between 20 per cent and 25 per cent of NSW’s power.
