Shorten is driving an electric car to the election

Labor wants to speed its flashy new electric campaign vehicle right through the Coalition’s big budget promises and energy policy confusion and straight ahead to the election. It simply refuses to recognise any red lights flashing at the intersection with climate change policy and the economy. Instead, it is promising Australians they can have it all.

Much higher emissions reductions, more renewable energy, 50 per cent electric vehicles, cleaner fuel, cheaper electricity, protection for certain manufacturing industries, carbon farming for the agriculture sector. What’s not to like?
