Kirk Douglas helped end Hollywood blacklist
Born Issur Danielovitch, the only son of seven children of illiterate Russian-Jewish immigrant parents, Kirk Douglas became a film icon and maverick producer who helped end the Hollywood blacklist. He has died at 103.
