Is the latest pull-back in the US sharemarket simply an understandable bout of nervousness before Fed chair Janet Yellen's big speech on Friday, or is it a symptom of a much more serious deep-rooted anxiety?
There's little doubt investors have been on edge since Sunday, when Yellen's deputy, Stanley Fischer, gave a disturbingly upbeat verdict on the US economy.
