One of Sydney's most controversial and irrepressible social hostesses, Lady Mary Fairfax AC OBE, died at her Rose Bay mansion Fairwater on Sunday night.
Her four children – Garth Symonds, Warwick Fairfax, Anna Cleary and Charles Fairfax – said in a statement that she passed away peacefully after a recent sharp deterioration in her health.
