Jakarta | Amid the perfectly manicured surrounds of Jakarta’s Dharmawangsa Hotel, a group of Indonesia's elite laid the groundwork on Monday to undermine 20 years of democratic progress.

Dressed in well-cut suits and speaking in English which betrayed their expensive foreign education, the group claimed a mandate from the poor to challenge the likely re-election of President Joko Widodo on April 17.
