A seemingly certain deal between Australia and 10 other nations to revive the regional free trade pact, the Trans-Pacific Partnership, has collapsed when Canada, without warning, baulked at the last minute.
World leaders including Malcolm Turnbull and Japan's Shinzo Abe were seething Friday night after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau reneged on a deal his Trade Minster had struck just hours earlier and boycotted a meeting of leaders that was supposed to ratify the TPP.
