Mauricio Macri taxes Argentina's exports, cuts ministries as peso plummets

Buenos Aires | President Mauricio Macri has announced an austerity program, saying the country is in an emergency as the peso has fallen 50 per cent this year and inflation roars at 30 per cent.
Macri, who deposed the Peronists in 2015, is counting on speeding up payments of a $US50 billion ($69.5 billion) rescue package from the International Monetary Fund.
