American singing sensation Frank Sinatra once remarked: "An audience is like a woman. If you're indifferent, endsville."

Ole' Blue Eyes' observation was made decades before a MeToo-generated revolution in gender relations, but it has heaps of relevance when applied to Malcolm Turnbull's not-currently-that-brilliant prime ministerial career. It's not that Turnbull is indifferent to his audience – the voters – but that they, or at least a large section of them, have become indifferent to him.
