Defence white paper: mind the gap in future costs

One of the worst kept secrets in Canberra is how difficult it is to get within a bull's roar of the exact costs of defence acquisitions.
So we should take very seriously the government's claim that the new defence white paper is the first that has been "fully costed", with external private sector assurance of its investment plan, and is underpinned by a "fully-costed and externally validated" force structure review.
