The Morrison government will be forced to wait and see what Donald Trump includes on his China trade shopping list before assessing the potential damage from Beijing's agreement to buy a "tremendous amount" of American agricultural products.

A day after welcoming the resumption of trade talks between the United States and China, Canberra and the National Farmers Federation expressed concern about the loss of Australian exports from any agreement. But the lack of clarity about the deal means the impact can't yet be measured.
