Liberal senator Jim Molan has brushed off anger at his attempt to circumvent Coalition how-to-vote cards at this month's federal election, ahead of heated preselection fights to fill Senate vacancies in two states.

With the Senate count continuing from the May 18 election, Senator Molan is closely watching below-the-line votes in NSW, set to determine the fate of his parliamentary career.
