Finance Minister backs iron ore inquiry

A Cabinet split over a proposed iron ore industry probe has deepened with Finance Minister Mathias Cormann joining Prime Minister Tony Abbott in publicly backing a "sensible inquiry".
Mr Cormann speaking in Perth after a post budget breakfast said he didn't regard the push by Independent Senator Nick Xenophon last week as providing the type of inquiry needed but a properly constituted inquiry with government backing could be appropriate.
