Adani Australia chief executive Jeyakumar Janakaraj has vowed to go ahead with Indian company's $16.5 billion Carmichael coal mine and slammed its critics, saying the "flood of misinformation" from opponents would not stop the project, which is being driven by record demand for energy from Asia.

As federal Labor continues to criticise the controversial Central Queensland mine ahead of the Batman by-election in Victoria next Saturday, Mr Janakaraj said Australia's investment reputation would be seriously damaged if a future government considered scrapping projects that had already received state and federal approvals.
