Bernardi defection pressures Turnbull to move further right

The beleaguered Turnbull government faces increased destabilisation as the expected defection of dissident Senator Cory Bernardi sparks warnings from disgruntled conservatives that the Prime Minister needs to lurch further to the right.
The South Australian senator is expected to rat on the Liberal Party on Tuesday and form his own conservative party, just seven months after he was elected for six more years on the Liberal ticket.
