Perth shipbuilder Austal wins new contract for US navy

Listed shipbuilder Austal's gamble to set up operations in the US has continued to pay off, after the company secured a fresh deal with the US Navy to supply two more combat ships.
The contract, announced to the stockmarket on Wednesday, brings to 17 the number of Independence-class Littoral Combat Ships (LCS) ordered from Austal's shipyard in Mobile, Alabama.
