Lobbyists, industry and representative groups and former MPs who lobby on behalf of a foreign country or business to influence government or political decisions face having to register under sweeping new laws aimed at curbing foreign interference in Australia.
The new transparency requirements will be introduced as part of a sweeping measures to tackle what has been described as unprecedented levels of meddling by overseas interests and foreign agents in Australia's political and civil life since the Cold War.
