Malcolm Turnbull edges away from a CET, doubts AGL's clean energy plans

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has poured scorn on a pledge by AGL Energy to replace the generation capacity of the Liddell power station when it closes, saying the company had no idea what it would do.
At the same time, the government gave notice it was sliding away from implementing a clean energy target, saying the report last week by the Australian Energy Market Operator highlighting an intermediate-term shortfall in baseload power had "reset the debate".
