Bill Shorten prevails as Labor sweeps super Saturday

Labor has secured victory in the key byelection seats of Longman and Braddon while the government has failed spectacularly in its bid to win back the seat of Mayo it lost at the last election.
In a result that erased pressure on Bill Shorten's leadership, Labor's Susan Lamb retained Longman in Queensland with a swing towards her and a rout of the Liberal National Party which recorded a primary vote of just 28 per cent.
