Bill Shorten firm on dividend rebate ban, promises pensioner-friendly policies

Labor leader Bill Shorten says his party will have pensioner friendly policies to announce before the next election but is holding his ground on plans to scrap cash refunds for excess dividend imputation credits.

Campaigning in the Melbourne seat of Batman ahead of this Saturday's byelection, Mr Shorten dismissed one report that Labor was planning to introduce supplements to compensate the low-income pensioners who would be caught the policy supposedly targeted at wealthier retirees.
