Shares on Wall Street have ended mixed as an early rally in technology stocks faded almost as fast as it had begun.
It was a different story in Europe where stocks surged on expectations that the European Central Bank will take fresh action to bolster growth at its June meeting. The ECB held its key rate steady at its policy meeting overnight.
