Resources have room to grow
Small companies can get kicked by interest rate rises because they rely on the domestic environment more than larger companies. But, according to market experts, small cyclical resource stocks are the exception, which helps to explain why they are back in favour.
BT Financial portfolio manager Tim Barker says, "There are some effects from interest rates on resource stocks, but they are only minor since mining revenues are external. So really only commodity prices and currency have any real effect."
