Minnow strikes gold on debut

It doesn't have a mine or a managing director, but that didn't stop mining hopeful The Gold Company closing at a 40 per cent premium on its first day on the Australian Stock Exchange.
The local sharemarket veered back into negative territory yesterday, but The Gold Company began trading at 24¢, up from its issue price of 20¢ before closing at 28¢, its intraday high.
