Shares in junior mineral explorer Magnetic Resources soared on Friday after it announced it had expanded its search for iron ore in the south-west of Western Australia.

Magnetic said it had applied for exploration licences over numerous potential iron ore targets that increased its total ground holding for iron to about 4750 square kilometres - an 80 per cent rise.
