End of an era as Antipodes Partners snaps up Maple-Brown Abbott

Maple-Brown Abbott, the high-profile investment house that manages money for some of Sydney’s wealthiest families and super funds, has been acquired by Antipodes Partners, the latest deal in a fast consolidating sector.

Together, Maple-Brown Abbott and Antipodes, which is owned by ASX-listed Pinnacle Investment Management, will manage some $18.6 billion. It had largely been owned by the Maple-Brown family, who started the fund with former Rothschild banker Chris Abbott in 1984.
