Investors should buy 2024’s winners instead of throwing money at stocks that are cheap for good reason according to broker MST Marquee, which says 2025 is not the year to invoke folksy market wisdom.
The advice challenges the investment strategy known as “dogs of the Dow”, popularised by contrarian investor Michael O’Higgins in his 1991 book Beating the Dow. It advocates buying the 10 worst-performing shares over the past 12 months featured in the Dow Jones Industrial Average, with the only caveat being those stocks can pay dividends.
