Cashed-up investors are struggling to find companies that promise good growth this new financial year amid a tepid economic environment, prompting many to cling to blue-chip stocks for yield.

That is the view of Argo Investments , one of Australia’s biggest listed investment companies, which warned of increasingly scarce pickings among companies that provide glimpses of good earnings growth.
