The Australian Securities Exchange has approved its first bitcoin exchange-traded fund, marking a major step forward in the growing availability of cryptocurrencies to Australian investors.

The VanEck Bitcoin ETF will list on the ASX on Thursday under the ticker VBTC, marking the first on the exchange that tracks the price of bitcoin, the most widely held and actively traded cryptocurrency.
