ASX activist HMC Capital takes aim at GrainCorp

HMC Capital has revealed a position in GrainCorp, marking the group’s fourth public bet from the highly concentrated Capital Partners Fund.

Fresh off a campaign to push embattled property developer Lendlease to axe its overseas operations, fast-growing ASX agitator HMC Capital has bought a stake in grain handling giant GrainCorp.

HMC Capital – headed by former veteran UBS deal maker David Di Pilla – disclosed a 5 per cent holding in GrainCorp shortly after the market closed on Friday. The stake is valued around $90 million.
