Peer-to-peer money transfers could increase cost and complexity for consumers and businesses wanting to exchange currency, rather than promote efficiencies in the forex market.
The peer-to-peer businesses, which have started operations overseas and are apparently showing interest in Australia, operate by matching two parties who want foreign exchange. For example, they will match a person who wants to change Australian dollars into euros with another person who wants to change euros into Australian dollars.
