Investing in the mining services sector has proved to be trickier than most would expect as relatively strong commodity prices have not always led to a pick-up in demand for products and services.

In fact, the earnings outlook for some contractors has even been downgraded recently due to labour issues, cost blowouts and the market volatility that has led to project delays or cancellations.
