2005 Tony Sage ’s name surfaces in a Crime and Corruption Commission inquiry when disgraced former public servant Graeme Burkett testifies that Perth crime figure John Kizon asked him to broker a deal where Sage and Steve Zielinski would buy the Onyx nightclub.

2007 Sage stands trial, charged with conspiring to commit insurance fraud by torching a Holden Monaro. He is acquitted, claiming he was not in possession of the car for more than 18 months before his arrest.
