NSW Premier Barry O'Farrell has vowed to protect agricultural lands and listen to farmers' concerns following the renewal of coal exploration licences in the state's north-west.
Resources Minister Chris Hartcher says tough conditions will apply to licences for the Shenhua Watermark Coal and BHP Billiton Caroona coal exploration projects near Gunnedah.
