CBH Group tests blockchain to protect agricultural supply chains

The chief executive of Australia's largest co-operative, CBH Group's Andy Crane, says digital innovation will boost productivity across the agriculture sector and hopes a trial of blockchain technology will lift grain growers' incomes by allowing them to prove provenance to buyers.

Perth-based CBH, the nation's largest grains exporter, and Sydney start-up AgriDigital will begin a pilot next week to test how blockchain, which can be used to create an immutable audit trail, traces the movement of oats through a supply chain.
