Treasurer Jim Chalmers insists he is very respectful towards Reserve Bank of Australia governor Michele Bullock, denying he pressured her about the bank’s public messaging on government spending contributing to inflation.
In his first on-the-record response to an AFR Magazine profile of the treasurer published on Friday, Chalmers told Sky News the article inaccurately depicted his private conversations with Bullock and former governor Philip Lowe.
