The chief executive of electronics giant JB Hi-Fi says whitegoods manufacturers are already discussing increasing prices amid a slump in the Australian dollar and the first twists in the trade war stoked by Donald Trump.
Terry Smart said higher prices could lessen the benefit of a widely expected Reserve Bank interest rate cut anticipated next week that would bring down households’ borrowing costs from a 13-year high.
