Australia ‘shouldn’t fear’ Trump presidency: Abbott

Allentown, Pennsylvania | Former prime minister Tony Abbott says Australia should not fear a Donald Trump presidency if he wins this week’s dead-heat election, echoing other conservative leaders who say criticism of his return to the White House has been mostly hyperbolic.

Mr Abbott – who is considered a potential replacement, among Liberal candidates, for Australia’s current ambassador to the US, Kevin Rudd, if there is a change of government in Australia – praised Trump’s last stint in the Oval Office.
